We use essential technology to operate the site and optional analytics to learn what is useful. You decide whether analytics runs.
Your choice: Google Analytics is off until you accept it. Choose “Reject optional” to keep it off, or “Accept analytics” to enable it. Both choices leave the public website and inquiry form available.
You can reopen these settings at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer. Withdrawing an active analytics choice reloads the current page to stop the Google tag.
1. What cookies and local storage do
Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser and sent with relevant website requests. Local storage keeps information in your browser without automatically sending it with each request. This policy covers both technologies when used by thearchives.online, operated by The Archives in Pune, India.
Essential storage supports a service you request, such as a staff login, or remembers your privacy choice. Optional analytics helps measure website use and requires your acceptance on this site. Closing a notice, scrolling or continuing to browse does not count as acceptance.
2. Storage used on this website
| Name / provider | Purpose | Duration / choice |
|---|---|---|
| archives-cookie-consent-v1 The Archives · local storage | Stores your analytics acceptance or rejection and the time of your choice. It is used only to apply that preference. | Valid for 180 days, then we ask again. The stored entry may remain until replaced or cleared in your browser. Essential. |
| better-auth.session_token The Archives · cookie | Authenticates authorised users of the administration area. On HTTPS, the name may begin with __Secure-. | Normally up to 7 days, renewed by active use; a non-persistent sign-in may last only for the browser session. Essential when signing in. |
| better-auth.dont_remember The Archives · cookie | When used, records a signed-in user’s choice not to keep a persistent login. The HTTPS name may have a __Secure- prefix. | Browser session. Essential when that login choice is used. |
| _ga Google Analytics 4 · first-party cookie | Distinguishes browsers for visit measurement using a generated identifier. | Google’s default is 2 years, subject to browser limits and Analytics settings. Optional; requires acceptance. |
| _ga_DCW7LG0SK3 Google Analytics 4 · first-party cookie | Maintains session information for our Analytics property. The cookie follows the _ga_* naming pattern. | Google’s default is 2 years, subject to browser limits and Analytics settings. Optional; requires acceptance. |
Analytics cookie expiry may be refreshed on later visits after acceptance. Browser restrictions can shorten the durations above. Deleting a cookie does not delete information already received by a provider. See Google’s documentation on GA4 cookies.
3. How we keep and control the Google tag
The site includes Google Analytics measurement ID G-DCW7LG0SK3. We use a consent-first approach: the Google script is not loaded before an analytics acceptance. If you reject analytics or have not made a choice, the site does not send Analytics requests to Google through this tag.
If you accept, Google may receive page and event information, cookie identifiers, referral information, device and browser details, and an approximate location. The website tag disables Google signals and advertising personalisation and does not grant advertising storage or advertising consent. We do not add separate advertising or remarketing tags to this site.
Read Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s explanation of partner-site data use for more information. Our Privacy Policy explains the wider handling of website and inquiry information.
4. Changing or withdrawing your choice
Use the settings button above or “Cookie settings” in the footer. Selecting “Reject optional” after accepting turns off future Analytics collection and removes accessible _ga and _ga_* cookies for this website. We reload the page when an active tag needs to be unloaded. This does not remove staff login cookies or erase information already sent to Google.
We remember either choice for 180 days in this browser. Your choice is specific to this browser and device; clearing storage, changing devices or using private browsing may cause the notice to appear again. If your browser blocks local storage, the choice can apply during the current visit, but may not be remembered when the page reloads.
You can browse without choosing; analytics remains off. If JavaScript is disabled, the optional tag also remains inactive.
5. Browser and third-party controls
You can view, block or delete cookies and site data in your browser’s privacy settings. Blocking essential cookies can prevent staff login from working. Browser controls and extensions operate separately from the choice saved on our site. Google also offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers.
Links to Instagram, LinkedIn, Behance or other external websites are governed by those services’ policies when you visit them. Cookies they set on their own websites are outside our cookie settings. This policy does not list ordinary browser caching of images, fonts and media as tracking cookies.
6. Updates and contact
If we change the storage technologies or purposes described here, we will update this policy and request fresh consent where needed. For questions or privacy requests, email [email protected].
